Quiet day at the rock yesterday. Only two fish in the box. No current, lots of chatter on the VHF with the same story, no current. Got one tusk fish and striped snapper.

Came in around 12:30 as there was a weather warning of 30knts for that arvo.

New boat went really well Shane, I am sooooo happy. I need to fix the rollers on the trailer, but I knew this before hand anyway. It's nice cruising at 28knts through the bay.

Yea man no more getting wet hey lol.

It was quite yesterday even wider. There was no current. We had a really good run early before tide changed.

Ended up with 9 snaps 2 pearlies n 10 bonito.

My uncle also hooked a black marlin while floatlining for snaps.

How good was the weather though.

I dont think that change came theiugh till 5. We came back in around 2 and it was still good.

I herd over the wire you guys hooked a 250lb beast.. :) It sure is good not getting wet now! That hull just eats into the waves, I can do 26knts offshore too.

How wide did you go mate? I haven't ventured out wide yet, will go wider next time I take her out to learn. I really wanna give square patch a go. Will need to take you out soon, I have so much to learn about offshore boating. Decided on 1770 yet mate? We have one spot left still.

It wasnt that big lol. But yeah it made our day. Espically having the other boys there to see it from their boat.

We fished 33s 35s and than moved out t to 80-100m line in search of new ground.

I wont be able to make it man i got exams than.

Man square patch is hit and miss. You need to be able to know to to fish there to catch good fish. Im not too fussed in going there lol.

Next trip im going south. I got some marks there n theres good ground there.

Im sure your gps has em too lol.

Pretty decent outing even still!

Especially with the added bonus of the Marlin, thats awesome news!

Decided to head out with a mate on a charter from the GC in the end for the morning, lol what a waste of time that was, Seargent Baker everywhere and my mate catching a 4kg Maori was the only real highlight, half dozen decent snaps and the odd pearly from the rest of the boat. Pretty dire apart from that, didnt land anything legal so pretty gutted!

It was okay. We fished hard all morning. We had really good bite until tide changed. Sucked for me coz i never got a big fish lol

It was quite off gc too. My mates who got good snaps big jew n 2 20-30kg cobes tuesday didnt even get anything. Im so glad i never went off gc.

Personally i will never go off charter of gc. Its a rip off. You have to fish with 20 other people too and you barely catch much.

If you want a mad days fishing you go out with john gooding out south passage bar or smithy from mooloolaba. They are really good. They not cheap but you only got with 4-8 people.

Yeah it was a bit of a last ditch effort to go and do something as the weather was great and my mates been itching to do some more serious fishing for ages, plus there were no forum deckie spots so i thought what the hell. so I went along with it. Smithys was booked out for the next fortnight and I didnt know about John gooding, but will certainly look them up in the future if there are no forum spots.

Over and out!

For me Gold Coast charters are a waste of time

I saw the black hooked on Shane's boat first hand. Was pretty funny watching Shane and his crew connected to a 2m+ marlin that was leaping all over the ocean less than 100m away on snapper gear.

Slow but good day out. Ted, Ryan and I managed 9 snaps for the day biggest going 75cm. Thanks to Ted for the spot and thanks to Shane for showing us some new ground.

Hey guys, dont mean to hijack the thread but you should try Paul burt's fishing charter (myfishingcharter) down at tweed. I went out yesterday with my mates, there were a total of 7 peeps on the boat (5 of them were me and my mates) and we caught all up 49 keepers for 5 hours work. Caught parrot, pearlies, king snapper, snapper some other reefies and some reef flathead lol. Saw a heap of whales and old fella fight a decent cobia.

Cost was 160 down from 320... We got 5hours fishing plus your choice of a brand new rod and reel or some new fishing sunny's to the value of $130.

Not a bad deal and not a bad day out. Me and the boys got the 49 fish cause the other 2 didn't want any! Score! B)
