queensland Sundown National Park?

Hey guys!

Me and my dad are planning a trip to sundown national park for the October long weekend and plan to do some camping, hiking and most of all fishing!

You can fish there but I haven't been before, has anyone been or heard of this place and if so is it any good for fishing?

Plenty of cod in the area there mate. Hope you have a good 4x4. Its not the best roads in there so ive heard.

Ok great, never been fishing for cod before is it like bass fishing? Is the tackle the same to bass fishing also??

Yeah pretty similar, you can get away with heavy bass gear in that area most of the time cause there are alot of small cod there, but if you hook a big one bass gear may not be enough lol.

I went there a year ago and most tracks where ok. I only put my ute in 4x4 a couple of times.

I did not catch much there but cod one and two got a couple.

Don't know much bout cod fishing Craig but you could probably go alot heavier than 10lb leader to give yourself a bit more of a chance if they run you into a snag haha

Im not saying it can't be done, but it usually cant be done on that gear. Cod know exactly where to go to bust you off. Personally i fish 20lb main and 20-60lb leader depending on the amount of timber etc. The gear you have will subdue the smaller fish, but it will hurt if you hook a good cod and get instantly owned.

I thought the Sundown Park was in Queensland.

If so the Murray Cod season only applies to the Barwon, Macintyre or Dumaresq rivers and not the Severn in QLD.
