We are starting to plan a weekend up at Somerset Dam we havent booked the camp sites yet but will look into this soon as we havent decided on wether to go to Kirkleigh or Somerset village camp grounds yet. Kurt (Mad Mullet) is holding his 30th birthday bash up there and this should be a beauty weekend so dont be shy and come along these socilas are a great way to meet and greet.

I will be bringing a heap of redclaw traps so if you got any bring them along I have a great recipe for these criters on the bbq. I know plenty of good fishing spots on the dam for bass and yellow belly so if you also want to learn how to fish the area just ask.

My kids are coming also and this is a great place for all the familly I have plenty of water ski gear as well as knee boards and ski tubes to entertain the kids. The annual reclaw races have the kids playing with our food as well as our serious cricket tournament at camp which has kids pitted against the adults with a handicap which I'll announce on the weekend.

Dont forget your fold up chair for around the camp fire and bring the marshmellows to toast on the fire. Post here to help plan the weekend and I'll soon get back to you all with the camping spot

Getting some live shrimp from a supplier for the social weekend is anyone else interested in getting some and where would be the closest supplier to the Redlands?

Hey Mark

Here is the number for the shrimp supplier.

07 54638226

Ask for the fishing grade shrimp as they are bigger in size.

Cost is $35 per 100 and for an extra $5 they will deliver to your house otherwise they will meet you in a carpark at a local pet shop on their delivery day for that area.

SEQ water has a buffer zone on all its dams now for camping as they are concerned about quick rises in water levels still if your the first camp back from the buffer zone you still have some amazing views to wake up to we'll try to get as close to the water as is allowed I will be there when the gates open on Friday morning

looks like there is no more camping right on the water anymore going buy that map.

Only that we will be in the unpowered camping area not until we get up there is that we can say for certain where will end up as its first gets the pick of the spots you can't book any certain area, so there is talk now that a few of us might get up there Thursday now to pick a prime spot I've got the time off so I just need a drinking partner for Thursday and I'm there hahahahahahahahaha

has an area been picked from that map tugger? its the unpowered camping areas isn't it?

4 weeks to go to this social I'm also going to run a friendly fishing comp with the longest bass or yellowbelly caught and measured on Saturday so you can start fishing from dawn and fish till dusk with the winner's getting the money pot from a $5 entry.

1st place gets %60 2nd place gets %40 of the money pot so bring your cameras and brag mats with your fishing gear and I'll even give you a few secret spots to get you started.

Come and see me when you get there or send me a pm with your phone number if you keen for this so I can put in for the comp

Cheers Mark
