Are there any Snapper left in the bay?

Hey all,

Is it just us or has the Snapper fishing really gone bad recently in the bay?

The last few trips have produced low numbers and only 1 over 50cm using soft plastics.

Could it have something to do with high boat numbers and their owners passing within 20 metres of us or our intended drift lines?

What is really frustrating is finding really good ground on the sounder showing alot of large bottom feeding fish with baitfish above, but nothing striking despite trying every plastic and jighead size in the tacklebox..others days the plastic gets smashed every cast while still sinking to the bottom.

Is anyone else having similiar issues? There has been very little posting going on in the forum considering the amount of people out every weekend lately.

Cheers

yes we have noticed it very quiet to. not a plastics guy but the last 4 trips to harries we have produced barely anything. previous weeks before getting a heap. dont keep to many, only enough for a feed, but have really struggled.

only passing 20m away? they have gotten better than cause last trip i could have touched the boats passing us at 20 knots!!!!!!!!!!!

This time off year the big snaps move back to offshore reefes. You still get em in bay but not in numbers.

If you fish offshore reefies now you are likely encounter more big snaps.

We killed it last year around this time.

I did a trip other day and the boys got 3 cracker knobbies.
