queensland Schultz Canal Sunday 14th

With the recent good reports, myself and Kevin are planning to try out Shultz this Sunday arvo. If anyone else is keen let us know and we'll go terrorise some Flatties and bream together. The more the merrier! My mission is small HBs, I really want to get a bream on a Small HB. I'm guessing we'll start around the bikeway bridge then work our way up the darker coloured path towards the mouth.

Funny thing is I used a couple of old baitcasters on the weekend and got to remember how much better they are to use than spinning gear. Now I'm thinking about getting a new one for christmas!!!

dan, get a standard alphas and u'll love baitcasters and...u'll have one of the best baitcaster for estuary fishing(the best if ringa's fw only).

he he, I might not go that extreme.I'd be happy with a simple little shimano rig. Real saltwater pros like me don't need top end gear.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump up the list. Anyone else keen? Perhaps someone who knows the place and can show us the best snags??

yeah, i think it's hard for me to locate any fishy spot at first trip....anyone would give us a hint?

If you go from the Nudgee Rd and Gateway Motorway Bridges on the north side of the canal, don't bother fishing for very long until you hit the bituman path. Throw a few casts in as you walk, but don't put in 30 casts in one spot there.

Really, the fish will be around different snags each day, but just look for trees that have sunken into the water and are completly leaf less and have dead twigs all over them. The fish love this, mainly Cod and Bream.

There are alot of fish from the bridge where the path changes, right down to where the path curves away to the left.

Sorry I can't be more help, but the snags all look the same.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. Just as you go over the bridge the path turns to bitumen. I have only had a quick flick around the bridge so all that path is undiscovered country. Looking forward to it.
