queensland Another Large PB Cod

With the good weather forecast yesterday we decided head out wide again to fish the deepwater.

Last trip we found some special looking ground so we were keen to get back out there and have a proper look at it.

We were not disappointed as the very first drift my mate nailed one cod and and I missed 4 or 5 in a row.

We fished this spot until lunch time with a constant run of nice fish coming on board.

We had plenty of double headers and one triple header with a mix of bar cod,flame snapper,kingfish,ornate snapper as well as the usual pesky gummy and green eye sharks.

I actually caught 2 green eyes on the one hook.

They were hungry with the slow northerly current and a real nuisance the entire day.

I managed to upgrade my PB Bar Cod again with this one going 31.9kg, an absolute stonker of a cod.

She was part of a double header with a large flame snapper.

We did not realize how big this fish was until we weighed it that night which is why I do not have any decent pictures which is a bit of a shame.

It had just spawned so its body was very small with a massive head which was a real shame

I don't get to see many PB's these days so it's always good to get one.

After fishing for these cod for near 30 years now it is good to get 2 PB's in 3 weeks but even better to see that there is still some big mature fish stocks still out there.
