The SSAA has provided responses to a series of questions on notice following the appearance of the SSAA National President Geoff Jones and Chief Executive Officer Tim Bannister at the public hearing in Canberra last month for the Greens led Senate inquiry into gun related violence in the community.

The questions with notice directed to the SSAA concerned the actual non-compliance rate of firearm owners regarding the correct storage of firearms; the economic impact of hunting and the shooting sports; the lengths the SSAA goes to in order to protect and secure our membership data; and the negative perceptions and scaremongering presented by the media regarding the shooting sports.

While we are pleased to provide further information on these important matters, the fact remains that the Inquiry is none other than a smokescreen for the Greens who have long opposed private firearm ownership.
