Scrounger Day

I had to realy scrounge the depths out at NPD this morning to get a few willing bass that wanted their pic on AFO. Places that had been producing some fish have all gone quite, so I just trolled aimlessly around on the search for new bass hideouts. There was not to many to be found, some were nearly smaller than the lure, except for one dirty big mongrel forkie that made me think I had cracked the jackpot, I think he was the biggest I have caught on lure.

It was a great morning with no rain until I got 50 meters from the ramp then I got saturated.

Haha! Join the club Dino. I've been fooled many times by big forkies while praying for a big bass! Sometimes they hit the blade on the drop and they take off like a rocket. The fresh is turning on the forkies in all the rivers and dams. A fishing mate in a yak recently landed 20 forkies in a river casting poppers, 2-3m crankbaits, TN50s and blades.

You did really well today landing those bass with so much fresh water flowing into the North Pine. I reckon the bass are schooled up in the deep water and getting fatter each day.

I have found in north pine dam that it is not so much the weather but the food source that indicates where the fish are. Some of my best days are on rainy, windy days and as long as the bait source is present ie boney bream then the fish are there. As we are limited to one third of the dam for boat fishing, on many occasions the boney bream move out of the area and we are left with a few straglers to catch. This is usualy the time we go bank fishing trying to find the schools.
