Summer Camp Feb 2016

So the idea was bandied around the fire at Winter Camp to chuck out a date and idea for a Summer Camp next year.

Initial concept was to use the camp site next to the boat ramp at Urangun Hervey Bay.

Proposed dates... 5th, 6th, 7th of February.

Idea would be to get as many guys together, tow a bunch of boats up. Fish. BBQ. Beer. Pretty straight forward while at the same time somewhat fool proof

Hervey Bay is a big place so no limit on potential. The evening share should be really insightful as well.

Looks like I will tow Henry's boat up so that is two to start.

Proposed location is the Camp site/ Caravan park shown on the below map. Although this is ages away would be good to get some idea of numbers early and maybe we can book out a section of the park...

Great idea. At this point I'm in and will tow my rig up.

I'll probally end up doing an over nighter at the top end of Fraser so I can do an offshore session without wasting 120kms of fuel for a day trip.

Would be pretty rad waking up and being right there.

That's a great idea! I'd be defiantely keen for this. Lots of good fishing options up at Ronnies. We have our own personal tour guides too. Luvit and Samsteele.

this would be an awesome trip. boat or no boat, there is some superb fishing to be had there

I was thinking of planning a trip for then anyway, definitely in . Its a great time of year to fish the bay up there, heaps of pelagics creating some surface rukkus, or at least there were in early march this year. Very excited already

Sounds like a great idea, I would be in that for sure. (As long as work commitments don't interfere)

The boat club across the road has some reasonably priced tucker and it has always been nice.

I'm so keen I've booked a cabin already.

Fantastic idea!! I doubt I'll be able to make it next year however would love to see it a success and continue to be on the yearly calendar - try and stop me in a few years when they boys are old enough!!!!

Spent many a night fishing off that jetty and the rock walls in my late teens. Mate's family had a house about 3 streets up from it. Don't think you allowed to fish in the harbour at all any more.

Really? That's the first I've heard of that. I've always thought it would be a good place to target jacks if it's too rough outside.

Havent forgotten but better get my back side into gear and book a spot. Planning on staying Thursday night and come back Sunday night so I might book a cabin for then. Keen!

I'm still booked into a cabin for the original dates. My brother is coming up from Victoria as well so if they stay the same we'll be there.

Sounds like a plan, I had totally missed this and ended up missing out in Winter. I would book a site, only my Dad lives 10 minutes away, so I'll probably crash with him. Whether I tow my boat up, or use his, I'll decide at the time.

Just booked a cabin from the 4-6th Feb at harbour view caravan park (next to the ramp). If the weather is good I hope to sleep out on the boat up in platypus bay for a night.

Still keen as for this just depends on:

a: getting Henry's boat patched (50/50)

b: or getting a deckie spot.

Putting my hand up early if a spot comes up with anyone.

Sadly no. Had a deckie spot and all. But I do my study in trimesters and exams have been scheduled for that Friday. It is a pain of a system actually as dates are not locked in till late in the term making it very hard to forward plan.

I know Sam is still going. Possibly with James as a deckie now.

Being back at Uni also, I was up in the air as to whether I'd get up to HB. After consideration, I'll be up there. Staying with the old man at Booral, 10 minutes from Urangan, I'll be fishing out of his boat. Be heading up Friday, winds not looking good, what's everyone's plan when up there?

We will be heading up Friday late afternoon, early evening. You're absolutely right the weather is not looking good at all. Just hope to get out.
