Hi all this is my first post so hi to all and I hope you can help me and that I can return the favor. Would anyone have a map with water depths etc that they could email me or know of somewhere online I could look at with this info?

I live in Tasmania and I am headed to Queensland on holidays. I am going on a houseboat holiday and I want to do lots of fishing from the boat. The areas I am allowed to go is from the top of Wave Break Island to the top of Russell Island. I am going on this holiday to fulfill a bucket list item of mine as I have non curable Hodgkins lymphoma and would love to make this a great trip. Any tips on what I will catch, where to go, what to use etc would be hugely appreciated.

Hey mate...

Note a recent report mate in the last day called "Down The Well"... Oh hell here is the link: http://www.australianfishing.com.au/south-queensland/443424-tips-for-stradbroke-please#506983

Also down that way you can easily access the broadwater and as this recent report will show you it can be pretty great as well: http://www.australianfishing.com.au/south-queensland/443422-broadwater-inside-and-out/unread

Sorry to refer you to other reports but it is not my personal area of experience as I usually fish further north in the bay where houseboats do not really go or on the surf side of straddy. These two reports are however indicative of the flatties firing out so trolling hard bodies and flicking plastics around pretty much any sand bank will put you in with a chance.

Another interesting option might be to walk throuhg to the surf side of South Straddy and throw for some tailor. This report (http://www.australianfishing.com.au/south-queensland/443424-tips-for-stradbroke-please#506983) is really close to that area and suggests you might find some in the gutters on the surf side.

There is also a search function on the site that might help. These 3 reports were quickly found in "Latest Forum Posts" but there is a wealth of other information on here if you dig around.

Good luck and all the best for your trip!

In our part of the world you can catch marlin, trevally and tuna just to name a few on the flats in Hervey Bay in less than 2 metres of water. :)

The areas you will be fishing there will be plenty of flathead, whiting and bream that can be caught in under 30cm of water at the right time.

Good luck and basically what I'm saying is don't hesitate to throw in a line if you think it's too shallow
