queensland Awesome Bass Session

Merry Christmas to you all, hope the holidays have brought you plenty of fish.

I kicked off the holidays with a freshwater session on boxing day. A mate and myself went to a hole he has previously caught a small bass at.

After fishing for about 30min, before sunset. My mate pulled in this... please someone make some sense of this / ID the fish without any hesitation. 

Looks to me like a rock cod, though this is caught in as fresh as fresh gets.

After dusk hit, i got my first hook up and an adrenaline rush as he nearly took my line in under the snag. After a little weaving in and out of the shore based snags he was in. going 26cm - my 4th ever bass!!   Not long after, a cast straight down the guts of the creek had me pulling in my second bass for the session, going 27cm

Sun was well and truly gone and the fish seemed to be biting. A few hits on each of our lures kept us on edge until my mate got snagged, so i took his position on the bank while he took care of his issue. First cast I took from his spot and i was on. I could immediately tell this was a bigger fish and after a nice fight I had my 6th Bass, and my PB.

Going 30.5cm this little guy made my Boxing day Bass session unbelievable as i doubled my Bass total to 6! 

Due to the fact i basically stole my mates fish, his persistence to get a bass paid off as he pulled in a nice little 22cm. We decided on 3 more casts each.

On my last cast i got the hit of a lifetime haha. Seriously, a much bigger fish had a go and got me pumping. We left it at that, with a mission to come back and get the mumma from the hole. 

Could not believe how many bass our little honey hole holds. and the range of size. Absolutely awesome to see.

Definitely a Bullrout. From what I've heard you do not want to get spiked by a Bullrout. Apparently the pain is enough to make a man scream until eventually passing out.  Awesome report, let us know if you manage to get the mumma from the honey hole.
