Made it out to my usual haunt of North Pine Dam yesterday to try and add some numbers to the catch card that has been looking very sad for most people of late! I woke up, checked the weather forecast and looked at the radar, and said "YOLO! This'll be fun!"

I had a plan to check a couple of shrimp pots, then troll down to the bottom end of our area and do a spot of bait fishing. Well, I never made it to the bait fishing spots, because I couldn't get my lures past all the Bass on the way down! I found two areas in particular that had large numbers of scattered fish showing on the sounders, and all I had to do was pick the right depth for lures to swim at, and a great day followed!

The Bass were mostly average size, with only a couple of bigger girls amongst the lot. They were sitting in 5-8 metres of water, and suspended halfway, so any deeper lures wouldn't find the fish. I had to change colours and lures a few times too, they seemed to stop taking a particular one after a few passes, and changing it up got them going again.

Despite the forecast, and however threatening the sky looked all day, it didn't really rain. Only a very light shower once or twice. Pretty humid though!

I ended up losing quite a few fish halfway back to the canoe, or right at the side. One solid thrash and they'd throw the hooks. Would have been frustrating had I not landed a whole lot more!

Great day all up, and I am really enjoying my canoe setup! Having a motor sure makes getting down to the island a little bit easier!

Before anyone crucifies me for the next one....I was in a rush to find a flat surface, and it didn't really work out, so I'll call it a 45.... :frantics:
