What a day...

From not thinking I would get a fish in due to winds we had a cracking day although slow to start for me.

Sam was first on with a nice tailor this morning...

Soon after I hooked what I thought was a stonker tailor but...

We then moved to my other favorite spot which to be honest was blowy as hell. We decided to give it a couple of exploration casts and ended up staying for 2 hours.

Sam on first again...

Then dad...

What the pictures don't tell though is dad and Sam also had a bunch of dropped fish as well and me still no hits. Getting frustrated I put down the chrome rod and picked up my plastics (2-6lb Nordic Stage Artist) and tried fot a bream.

Not long after...

Then my luck finally changed as the tailor decided they really preferred my plastics to my chrome. In a short space of time I went from 0 tailor landed to 4 including a 55cm one which was epic on that gear. Happy as.

Was that North or South Straddie?

Did you need a 4WD for that spot if North Straddie?

North Straddie. Not for that spot, just your walking shoes, and a good bag to carry all the gear. Between Frenchmans and deadmans beach.

One of the rocks is affectionately known by locals as the 'Widowmaker' as it is badly exposed to wild weather. It is a good spot though, you just have to keep an eye open for big waves.

Yeap we fish all the well named rocks...

Widows, suicide, razor blade, razor back and shark rocks. It is all weather dependant and we have seen people fet wiped out.

No 4wd needed but good rock shows as when they are wet there is a black algae growing that is as good as oil.

Hi samsteele115,

Yep, sure is. Going by water taxi and catching the bus would be ok for short stay but then again one is limited as to where one can go by bus to a certain degree. Straddie ferries certainly have the monopoly and can charge whatever they want without competition hey.
