Bad day at the office...

I have been looking forward to launching my boat (bought 2 months ago) today at Redland Bay.

I had everything ready.  Even though the weather had wind gusts of up to 30 km/h was predicted I was sure I will be able to handle it.  I even convinced a mate of mine to take a sickie so he can join me.

Left home at 4:30 am, expected to launch at 5:30 am.  Drop the crab pots near Garden Island and then fishing at Coochiemundo Island.    However, a couple of km before reaching the boat ramp, we heard this rattling noise.  Couldn't see anything wrong on the rearview mirror and thought that we'll check it once we prep the boat prior to launch.  As we enter the carpark, we hear this crash and then scraping sound.  I saw the boat on a 45 degree angle and thought the boat has slipped off the trailer.  I immediately got out and saw one of the wheels 10 metres away.  The wheel has come of the trailer.

Right there and then I knew my day has turned pear shaped.  The Volunteer Coast Guard in Redland Bay was very helpful.  He supplied as some wheel nuts so we can put the tyre back on.  RACQ was useless as they suggested to tow me to Kmart Auto in Victoria Point, which pointed out that it will take them weeks to fix.  They suggested I go to QTS is Capalaba which I did and the bloke there fixed the trailer.

All in all today was the day I would rather forget.  My next outing which will probably be around March will hopefully be a bit better.

The bloke at QTS told me that the tyres I had on the trailer were car tyres and not proper trailer tyres.  Therefore the tyre sits pretty close to the frame of the trailer which could have been the issue.  I had 2 choices - 1) keep the tyres and get a longer axle or replace the tryes with proper trailer tyres.  Chose the latter.

@rayke1938 thanks for the offer, all is good.
