Question Regarding Sinkers

Hi All,

So, I am almost done with my fishing gear, I have bought a cheap (bayangtoys X16) drone to drop the bait from the beach. I was checking out videos on youtube and this guy said running sinkers are better ( at 1.20 min)

I am targeting snapper, tuna or anything within 400 m range, which sinker should I choose and how much weight should I select? And also which worm pliers should I buy to catch worms...

If you have links to this item on amazon,, then that would be easier for me to buy it

If you are flying your drone out to drop baits then a bait that stays on the longest will be more beneficial. Like strips of squid or an octopus tentacle, mullet fillet or pilchard held on with elastic fishing thread.

Worms are ideal for the whiting Brett was catching. You would want to be using a 5/0 size hook for the snapper or tuna. Worms would no go on the hook easily and most likely just break because of the thickness of the hook.

If you want to catch whiting then use a long shank size 8 hook with the worms.

To be honest if you are using a drone I would not use any sinker. But if you did I would say a size 8 ball would be fine.

I have seen people using grapnel sinkers in places where there is current and waves. These are pretty good at holding.

if you are in a weedy bay they would be the wrong choice.

Some South African friends told me they use a drone to take the heavy sinker out and drop it. They then clip on a running hook rig for the livie that has a non return thing. the livie swims out but cant make it back to the shore so it keeps going out.

I have not seen this and cant advise more than what they have said.

Do you know what sort of conditions you will be sending it out into? Current, Waves, Sea Floor, expected winds etc?

These things will all determine what sort of sinker yo will need.

And like Luvit said, keep it as light as possible.

You probably already know this but make sure any fish you catch that you want to put out as a live bait is legal. An under sized Bream, Snapper, whiting etc might get you a big fine.

Have fun. I hope you catch some crackers and please send us some photos if you do ok.

Windy? Yes

Sea weed?

Lots of it and everywhere!

I am basically doing beach fishing, and so far I could only catch sea weed.

The drone which I ordered from Hong Kong is on its way, and not shipped yet. Once I have it I will be practicing and then going live.
