THE SARATOGA PROJECT

Sunday was a very special day for the future of Lake Samsonvale’s already amazing fishery. We had a delivery of mature, breeding size Saratoga that were individually tagged then released at various locations around the dam. This is part of a massive project by the PRFMA, and led by Glenn Riley, to bolster the already increasing numbers of Saratoga in the lake, to make it THE BEST Saratoga fishery within casting distance of Brisbane!

All of the fish were handled with extreme care, and were properly sedated for the tagging process. Special aerated tubs were used to transport the fish to strategic locations around the dam, and all data recorded for future recaptures and study.

Very exciting. Now if I can use my boat with the electric, without taking the petrol engine off...

Ray - that's great news, such an iconic fish the old saratoga. It's been far too many years (about 25 I would say) since I have caught one. Might have to do something about that sometime.

Get her and you to join the PRFMA plus a few mates and come and stack a meeting and change the rules.
