Well I've been procrastinating for years about it, but finally dived in last week and opened a betting account. I usually get 5 tips right each week, so I thought I'd bet on 5 'certainties'.....hence why the Storm and Rabbits lost.
Oh well, I'll gamble the residual and see what happens.

Did you have the residual on the Eels tonight @ellicat? Never mind, you can always chase your losses on the Dapto dogs.........

ROUND 23

Thursday, August 22

Eels 6 v 12 Bulldogs

Smoked Eels...

Friday, August 23

Cowboys 24 v 10 Panthers

the real surprise was how well the Cowboys kept it together... inspired by the black cats usual end of season free fall

Broncos 20 v 22 Rabbitohs

Penalty goal victory... all things considered, Bennett would not be too comfortable/reassured with that win... but they do have troops to come back into the side.

Saturday, August 24

Sharks 42 v 16 Warriors

score line says it all

Wests Tigers 46 v 4 Knights

score line says it all... good bye Nathan Brown

Dragons 12 v 34 Roosters

score line tells a story and colours it in...

Sunday, August 25

Storm 24 v 8 Titans

The Storm`s 58% completion rate in the first half and lack of domination of the 16th placed Titans would be a concern heading into the finals...

Raiders 14 v 18 Sea Eagles

between Leilua`s first half  ‘brain dead’ moment and many seemingly unnecessary  stoppages in play, Manly got the 2 points. Manly may have got the 2 points but... unassisted, did they actually win the game away from the score board ????

Broncos will smash the eels this week!!!

Good one @Drop Bear, going on your past form I think you may have sealed their fate with your kiss of death.😁.  This is the first year that I have completely tipped with my heart rather than my head (always tip the Qld teams, never tip a team that has Paul Gallen in it) and it has made my footy watching more enjoyable. It avoids the inevitable guilt of not tipping the team you support and you can barrack for the team you want to win rather than the team you tipped. I guessing tipping is not the right game for me then? But I still enjoy it so will be back next year when the Qld teams will be soaring again. Still tipping the mighty Broncos to flog Melbourne in the GF 🤣.......

Great game by Cowboys good to finish off at 1300 Smiles with a great win! South's good to see win in NZ. Broncos good win however I was extremely disappointed with number of passes that were forward that were not called back... Gus says it was passed backwards but how the F! does it float 5m forward.... It's driving me nuts the whole amount of forward passes being allowed through. We saw one layer pulled up for a shepherd which was great but there was 5 other shepherd's in the game......... It's gonna turn into a glorified touch football league in the next 5 years!

I am with you, forward passes, sheperds , head highs all not being pulled up.I also cant work out how the storm can hold down forever and if the other team does its a penalty.

My gripe is that a knock back mostly doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Agreed a knock back is always called a knock on....... A knock on goes forward off a players arm from the elbow down is what  I thought..... It's becoming touch football and I agree with Gus saying he is worried that in 5 years time we will be watching glorified touch football.

One of your best @Gad ........ 🙂   I was extremely lucky to end up with a perfect round - was soooooo close to changing my tip and going the Eels (was worried about their two big wingers) and thankfully Freddie had the last word and swayed me. I'd also originally tipped the Sharks & Dragons but luckily I changed both of those, belying my poor record when changing my tip .......... 🙂

FINALS— WEEK 2 results

Semi Final 1: Friday, September 20, 7.40pm, ANZ Stadium

Bunnies  34 v 26  Manly

A (lucky ???) battered and bruised Bunnies side will take on a rested Raiders side next week end...

Admittedly the 65 minute mark sin binning of Trbojevic, for grabbing a player out of the play,  gave the Bunnies the momentum to get the win.

Semi Final 2: Saturday, September 21, 7.40pm, AAMI PARK

Storm  32 v 0  Eels

Storm keep on keeping on... Storm play Roosters next week end
