best whiting/mullet bait

i go fishing mostly around dohles rocks (offshore) and have found that mullet fillets are a real good bait to use but the whiting is the best there and was wondering if anyone could tell me any good spots around there for snag free cast netting or any bait shops that sell FRESH (not frozen for 6mths) of either fillet types coz iv bought from bcf, servos and the bait n tackle shop on gympie rd (just before bald hills exit) and its pretty bad quality, mind you the fish still go for it but the fresher the better in my opinion, any advice is much appreciated, thank guys. p.s could someone please point me to a few good fishing spots as iv spent the last 2 weeks puting around and no luch (tried past the bridge about 1k at some rocks for jack and cod on run in tide at night and was dead) so im kinda baffled, thanks again for any advice.

Provided it is Australian produce, buy your fresh bait from a fish/seafood shop. It is fresher and cheaper too.

Just make sure you don't buy any imported stuff as things like prawns can carry viruses that could cause a few problems for the local livestock;)

GEM Bait and Tackle near Jacobs Well/Cabbage Tree Point sell fresh (not frozen) Mullet, Garfish and Prawns among other things (including live bait).

Morgans Seafood at Scarbrough and most seafood places should have fresh whole diver whiting during winter but they probly wont have them atm, they might have summeries tho.

yep, isnt it the only dohles rocks- the one at pine river but it makes sense i guess to buy fresh whole fish from take away joints, pity that 'gems' isnt closer but will come in handy for when i get my bearings enough to venture out to the pin.
