queensland Fish Id Please?

Hello! Hubby pulled the little guy in this photo out of the Barron this morning and only snapped this one picture before throwing it back. I'm guessing the markings change when it gets bigger because I haven't been able to ID it from https://getfishing.com.au/resources/fish-identification/

Any ideas?

Some sort of scat, not 100% on the different species up north. I’d be super careful handling as most of them have toxic spines.

Yep. Spotted scat or similar.

Yeh I saw the spines are poisonous. Would give a catfish a run for its money! Have warned my hubby and if he catches another we will definitely try since it's not on the list apparently they're also popular with aquarium keepers but I only have a freshwater tank or I would try catching some by methods other than hook xD
