queensland Thursday Offshore Snaps

Went offshore with mopar kev on Thursday and what a magic day the weather was perfect. The bite was early and we both landed a couple of good snapper kev was 1st with 1 going 65cm then I landed a 75cm snap.

The quality was good and even found a few nice pearlies and a tusky. We had a look at the waverider bouy but to many boats had the dollies spooked. The new fads the state govt is putting in will be better as they tend not to spook as easily with proper fads.

Back home we drank beer while filleting our catch and cleaned the boat. Took a few pics

Good quality there Mark, well done. 'Usual' spot?  When are the new FAD's meant to go in?

Nice one mate. I spoke to the a charter on Wed he showed me some photos of the dollies that they had been braining. Such big numbers. They said they had been thick as.

Glad you got some nice fish. 

Did you try for any Spanish?

Yes what KM said. I thought they were going to be inside the bay? Great if they are offshore.

Thanks Kelvin went to 33s and cathedrals no date yet for the fads they're going in offshore on the gold coast and sunshine coast and it also states Moreton bay but I assume they mean within Moreton bay marine area which takes in offshore Moreton island.

Hi mark,

They are definitely around - on Friday morning off the rocks on moreton I lost two good tailor to big spanish macks.  Also got a heap of schoolies.

Looks like an awesome day out on the water anyway mate, some good chewing in that lot.

It was late in the morning by the time I got back to the rock so didn't bother looking at any pelagics I know the Wahoo come through now

There are always the odd homers or stragglers but not worth targeting them until the season kicks in on Spanish. I just look at each species and target them accordingly much less frustration that way. Wahoo dollies and marlin will be on my radar soon.

That sounds exciting. I would like to get a marlin this year. Will be my first
