Well took my 11 year old son and the Mighty Daihatsu for their first outing in competitive motor sport today. Calum is still just to young to get a CAMs licence, so I drove with him as passenger.

Did very well, took me a little while to work out this new fangled front wheel drive idea, but found it actually better to drive for this sort of event than rear wheel drive.

4.4l V8 P76 alloy engine hiding in there!

Was pleasantly surprised to be running consistently in the top 4 or 5 despite my 18 year break from motor sport as well!

Might find it a bit hard to just let Calum race next season, might just have to do one or two wvwnts......

Did you run with the mags rather than with the regrooves?

Stayed with the road tyres, the scrutineer for the event was a bit of a stickler, so did not want to risk having to change the front tyres in a muddy paddock.

As it turned out there had been no rain there and the road tyres did the job perfectly.

Did it still have the pink seat covers? If so, that may explain the evident lack of enthusiasm from the young man:blush:

Two hobbies Rocket, car racing and fishing, they do occasionally conflict, I have my calendar for both planned usually a year ahead.
