Turbo Diesel Trouble

Hey guys,

Can anyone here help me out at all.

I made the big mistake of running my Prado out of fuel on the way to work today.

Well, it had a full main tank but it was switched on to the secondary tank and i never realized.

The RACQ guy was great.

The car was being stubborn apparently due to the fact that air had gotten into the injector pump, but the RACQ mechanic persisted and finally got it to run.

Lesson learnt, I drove it to work and then in the afternoon i drove it home with out a hitch.

Just then, i went to drive it and once again it won't start for me.

Any suggestions?

Anyone a mechanic?

Any particular place i should take it?

Any help possible would be much appreciated as i have only just purchased the car.

i will have to bleed the pump again he prob didnt do it properly.

im a carpenteer but thats definately a bleed problem diesels are renowned for it

depends on car, toyota's used to have a manual pump on the main pump - you could crack an injector and pump it up manually.

we did it once with our landcruiser as an experiment. 106.8 kilometres until it ran out of fuel from when the fuel light came on.

its a bleed problem you have to bleed the pump correctly. what we just did was exactly what feral said it worked fine

Yeah, i had it bled by two different mechanics. It still wouldn't start. let an auto lecky diagnose it with a computer to find out the immobiliser needed recoding. Runs fine now. Thank god it wasn't anything worse.
