queensland Maiden Voyage In Yewgary

Did some crab’n in the Logan In my new tinny this week. Soaked my neighbours 4 pots overnight near the prawn farms for 5 unders and a jenny. Used the Skinners park ramp which is pretty good but can get a bit muddy at low tide. Really happy with the boat and did all the off/on the trailer myself so I’m prepared for solo missions. Officially named the boat Yewgary with a naming ceremony but that is a story for another time and forum! 
 

we came across a funny looking stick that was swimming across the current so had a closer look and it turned out to be a very large brown coloured snake, possibly an eastern brown  they are meant to swim a bit and had its head in the strike pose looking where it was going it was incredible!

Shame about the jennies/undersize bucks but at least yo ugot out.

Nice rig man, hmmmm new boat smell, it’d get along alright with the 25 too.

Snakes are very capable swimmers indeed, I was fishing downstream from Mt Crosby Wier, waist deep in water throwing a lure around, when I noticed to my left only a few metres away, a large eastern brown snake swimming to get to the other side, not much you can do in that depth of water except be still, and hope for the best.

I had a brown about 1.5m long decide to join me on the kayak one day - I did not care for it.

shame about the crabs but good to have a shake down in the new tub.

Actually Brian I was so excited to see what was in the pot the mud didn’t bother me! I bought this tinny to be used lots so a little mud was a nice way to christen it. 
 

woke up this morning feeling a little flat so I went to check on Yewgary to pick me up. Seems like he was feeling a little flat this morning too!

Nice little crabbing vessel, build a little deck at the front if it doesn't have one and you be chasing muddies and prawns in the coming months.
