Been trying to kill this thing for 5 days now standard traps don’t work it can walk over them and won’t set it off don’t ask me how . So I got a different type of trap anyway here is some footage of my enemy

I love rating and micing. Very similar to crabbing. 

 

Bunnings sell these for mice. 

It takes a while to catch them but they finally concede to the tempting bait inside. 

A piece of choc chip cookie between the 2 doors gets them. 

 

 

 

Get one of these for the rats. 

For bait I use mars bar or chocolate chip cookies from the woollies bakery. Works quickly if there are rats around. 

I have a big sheet of camping mozzie mesh that's all torn etc. I cut a 100mm square out and wrap the goodness up in this, then stab it on the hook inside. 100% catch rate because they have to work to get to the food. 

And if you have toads just keep it slightly elevated ie. up on a piece of timber.

I remember in our old house my dad would use rat traps with peanut butter to catch them - it was always rather exciting when he did.

We used to take the garbage bag out of the kitchen bin and put a blob of peanut butter on the swing top lid . The would jump straight of the bench on to the lid couldn't climb the plastic walls.

Yeah The peanut butter is the go, worked every time for my brother at his place

The rat traps are made in bulk and not that good. If you get some plyers you can bend the catch so they are hair trigger and go off when the rat touches it. If you just set them out of the box they take quiet a pull to go off.

hmmm.... i'll leave that one well alone... 

 

i don't have a rat problem any more.  i have a border collie that sorts it for me.  prior to that, i just put some ratsac around the place.

Yeah one of the traps actually worked last night . Thanks for all the suggestions though . If this was at home my dog buster probably would have caught it . He has caught a few mouse now

You can sometimes set them so the trigger is just holding. Dogs are more fun than traps though
