queensland Help Wanted - Cape Info - Fishing Spots Out Of The Wind

Howdy Folks

We are heading off for Cape Melville in the next couple of weeks for 2 weeks up the cape. Looking at the wind recently it hasn't stopped blowing it's arse off and if that continues we will want to find some alternatives for places out of the wind. We will have two 4.5m tinnies with 50HP outboards.

Would love some alternative ideas should the wind stay as it has for the last month. We need a plan B - Z
for example has anyone ever fished Honey Dam at Lakeland? Is it open for rec fishing? Does it hold fish?

Any ideas welcomed?

Fishing trip or family trip? If it is just a fishing trip you could try some of the rivers around Lakefield. Should be sheltered enough to get on the water most days. The North Kennedy fishes well for barra and jacks. You can camp at Annie River, which flows into the North Kennedy. It is pretty rough, lots of crocs and snakes, but it does have a sort of ramp. I wouldn’t recommend it for a family trip though.

Sorry, I've never been there so completely clueless on the area. I'd say your best bet would be to fish the rivers and try and find some new territory

I don't think Mrs Drop Bear would understand... I have 2 big trips planned before Christmas already haha. Heading to the swains and Frasier.

Princess Charlotte bay has a few good spots to hide out of the wind in between where you camp on the beach and Normanby river. One of them is called no name creek and you can hide up there and chase plenty of Barra jacks and muddies
