Headed out with @Old Scaley at some ridiculous hour this morning that required us to have the nav lights on. The idea was to beat the traffic to Harries. We semi-succeeded and were able to land on one of the gazetted marks.

I was first on with an unders squire on pillie. That was it for my date at Harries, however Steve managed to get a few little fellas in before getting a whiptail which was quickly dispatched for strip baits. I think he then caught a legal Grassie on it before the rest got pickered. He said he wanted to catch a grinner, hence the title. Fortunately he did get one and turned it into this beauty -

That was it for Harries. We then went to Green but someone was already on the best mark. We decided to give Wello a go. Arrived with plenty showing on the sounder. Steve couldn't get away from the breambos. Things were a little quieter on my side, only landing an unders tuskie, a couple of sweetlip (one was close to the esky) and some bream.

Nothing on the squid jig or plastics today. The fresh grinner proved to be the best bait.

Great job on the day out. That grassy is a beauty. How big did it measure?

Shame there were no squid - at least you were kept entertained with some unders.

Thanks @ellicat. It was a fun day. Shame there weren’t more keepers but I am looking forward to chowing down on that grassie. @AUS-BNE-FISHO, the bigger one was 40cm and very fat so I got 2 good fillets from it. That Wello spot was insane for the number of bites and how many small fish were willing to commit suicide.

Always happy to be on the water @Kat. We hardly had a sprinkle while we were out there. There was a bit of thunder around when we got back to the ramp but we missed that storm too.

I only had a shower today at my school, but it was overcast for most of the day. 

Apparently it has been going inland and missing us (according to Gary, Youngberry the weatherman, or at least tomorrow it's going inland.) I think the rain is good to green the lawns up again though.

No, I normally take an arvo swim in the beautiful brown muddy yucky Brisbane River to clean up from my hard day at school in air conned class rooms while watching 'Shrek' in English class (because we're doing an analytical essay on it).

Went for another session with @Leosonfire tonight. Word had it that there have been some 50+ squire getting caught at the Port wall.

So we slow-drifted the rock wall half a dozen times for 1 unders squire, 3 baby flathead, a moses perch and a skinny shark about 60cm long to Leo. We then moved to Clara's and then to a spot Steve has taken me to before. No fish, but Leo managed a very scungey plastic bag. With that we called it off and went home after making a date for next Friday day (weather permitting).

One session will be memorable for the right reasons, mate. Thanks for coming out again.

Well my boy Tom and I explored the bay further the same day as @ellicat and @Old Scaley went out. Eventually ended up at Bulwer and found a spot worthy of further investigation. We only caught a undersized grassie and a few undersized squire but the bite was quite promising until the anchor decided to drag and we went off the spot. The wind suddenly decided to get up and we’d already been out for quite a few hours so we decided to start heading home. The other deciding factor was the ominous looking storm clouds brewing over Brisbane. There was no phone reception at Bulwer so we headed rather speedily down towards Tangalooma. I remembered that they have recently installed a repeater station at Tangalooma but I wasn’t sure whether it was for VHF, phones or both. Anyway, we got reception there and saw that at that stage a quite severe storm cell was heading straight across the bay. So, we decided to err on the side of caution and anchor behind the wrecks, along with quite a few other boats of all shapes and sizes. The storm cell ended up heading a bit north of us and we started heading home. Must say the bay wasn’t exactly a millpond by this stage, especially half way across when, for some reason, a nasty couple of metre swell with chop started coming from our port side while the main swell and chop was heading straight towards the river mouth! There were no banks nearby and we were in 20m plus water so not sure what caused that but after a fairly interesting few minutes we were past that. The boat handled it excellently so very happy with it.

Anyway, we had a good day with a bit of excitement thrown in.

They could have been. There was an absolutely huge container ship being tugged into the river as we crossed. Caught up with it just inside the mouth itself. Whatever caused them, it did a bloody good job! I did try you on the radio but that was about 2.30pm and heard nothing back.
