queensland Hervey bay golden trevs info required

Got an email from good mate who is heading o hervey bay on friday

"I'm heading up to Hervey Bay for a couple days fishing the inside of the island.  I'm trying to target some golden trevally on light spin gear. By some chance do you have any spots up that way or do you know anyone that is willing to share a secret spot haha? No pressure, i understand that people don't like sharing their spots but just thought I'd throw the feelers out just in case."

I hope someone will be in the know with a spot to hook him up. The main thing I’ve heard is to fish on sand flats with plastics.

Have caught golden on the artificial reefs out from the moon point area. Moon point itself and the flats and gutters nearby also seem to hold goldens on the reg.

Alternatively if he doesn't mind a drive I've had best success dropping plastics or microjigs down under the tuna schools in the Platypus bay area. Also cast around rays (not Rayke) and dolphins as goldens follow them for a potential easy meal
