Picked up my new toy, Okuma Makaira MK-15TIISEA-TBS

I put it on a rod I built years ago based on a 24kg prototype Synderglas blank, you may have seen it when you and Greg came up on the way to Rosemount a little while ago.  At the time I had a Penn FTH30LD2 on it so all the reels moved down one rod. The colour scheme of this reel seem to match the rod colours nicely. 😄 The Handle looks way bigger in the pics than in reality, (just the distance from the camera), it is a big handle but not excessive, fits my hand comfortably.

Yes, I remember. It does look to match the colours too. Very nice.

Nah! it's not paint, it's triple anodized, with a silver and 2 shades of blue anodizing 😄. I have a vague feeling that Avets did something similar.

The new SEa models in the US come in anodized silver, gunmetal and a really bright blue model. With the Anniversary models it looks like they combined all three colours in a splash pattern. But here in Oz you can have the gunmetal (there are two different gunmetals, a bluish and a greenish one, although the greenish one is being replaced) and these ones for a limited time. The standard Makairas come in a really deep gold anodizing colour and I have 2 of those.

Very nice.....Now show us some nice fish you catch with it.

I would like to but I have a medical issue that need to be sorted in the next month or so, and will be laid up for 4-6 weeks after that, so no fishing any time soon for a while. I will just have to stare at these reels and dream of the big ones I will catch with them.😄

Good luck with it Ed. I hope everything goes smoothly. Get well soon.

🤣🤣 Nice one Andrew! 🤣

I had been prepping her for weeks beforehand so it didn't come as a complete surprise and explained that she wouldn't have to pay for it. So that way I didn't have to sleep in the shed that night😄.

Funnily enough she bought my MK-50W late last year and that one is 3 times the size and this one was dearer. Must be an expensive colour job! 🤔 I didn't think that I could convince her to buy me another expensive reel this time so soon after it.
