Tow coupling is this normal?

Doing some maintenance on the boat trailer (brake cable replacement, bearings and greasing)

My trailer coupling has a tendency to rotate an it’s axis (see video) when on the tow ball so that sometimes the coupling handle is not pointing up to the sky but to the left or right of the tow ball.

Question is this normal?

You have a nipple on the side of the hitch.

A couple of squirts twice a year is all you need.

Thanks, Yep that’s what I was greasing. I was concerned I may have “over” greased.

I don’t remember my last override coupling having as much rotational movement but that could be just me not greasing the coupling at all.

I didn't mention it before but if your trailer rolls over that coupling will

not pull your car over with it, the trailer is free to rotate where as

other non rotating couplings will only turn so far and then tend to

put pressure on the tow hitch and flip the tow car.

That is the theory anyway, never tried it myself.

How dare you jump on a forum and sprout out theories that you haven’t even tested... what do you think this is... politics??? 😂😂😂

all looks perfectly normal to me @Hweebe 👍if you don’t get covered in grease when hooking the boat up you haven’t overgreased. But as @Angry51 said, a little bit regularly is the go as opposed to a lot once.
