Hi - thought I'd introduce myself. I've been living on the Bundaberg coast for 10 months now (moved up from Brizzy). I own a Dragon fishing kayak and a second kayak (Crusader Fisherman) made by hard-working Dave at Koastal Kayaks in Bundaberg.

I bit the bullet and ordered a Polycraft Drifter Frontrunner with a high-thrust Yamaha 60hp last week, which I hope to take ownership of in early September. I've had a lot of fun with the kayaks - a few dinners of flathead, mud crabs, mangrove jack, mackerel and a pretty average-tasting mack tuna, which I pulled into the kayak near the north wall at the Burnett River mouth. Brilliant fight, sub-par flavour.

Be happy to hear from any other small boat fisherpeople up in the Bundy region. I'll undoubtedly have tons of questions for Polycraft fanatics. I'll be targeting some different things when the new boat happens (prawns, squid, grassy sweetlip, tailor and some different mackerel varieties, and coral trout. Mainly estuary and mangrove creeking, with a bit of inshore reef action when the weather behaves. 

My other hobby over the past 30 years has been exploring the remotest rivers on earth, usually by packraft. The waterfall in the photo is in the North Kimberley, and only reachable by chopper. Spent 27 days alone up there - magic. Caught a lovely barra on a handline 12 kms downstream.  If you look up Remote River Man on the Web (there's a YouTube channel too), you can see assorted international shenanagans in places like Borneo, West Africa, Canada, Guyana, Bolivia, etc. as I seek out wildlife-rich river systems.

Sounds like an adventurous life you're living, with some fantastic places visited. I'm envious.

Welcome to the forum mate, looking forward to hearing of your adventures with the Polycraft. Will have to check out your Youtube footage, sounds really interesting. My wife and two boys have watched a lot of Ed Stafford's series over the past 6 months, as well as some of the Alone series.

Wow what a spot!!!

There are ways to eat the Tuna. The biggest trick is to cut the blood meat out early and never cook it right through. Must be Medium Rare at the most. It is fantastic cooked lightly and put through a salad with mayo. So good.
