Hello All,

Starting a new thread as I would like to share some of my good fishing spots in Molonglo River, Canberra. The spots shown in the attached image below are not easy to reach but that's exactly what makes them such good fishing spots. I have been fishing in this area a while now and will post some of my fishing reports from this area over the next few days. Stay tuned!

As promised, here is my first fishing report video from Molonglo River in Canberra. This video report shows a 62cm Murray Cod being caught from spot #4 as shown in the map in the previous post above.

Great fish there mate and very generous giving out your secret spots! How good are our freshwater cod!

Looks like that river could do with a few more snags and trees planted on the banks.

BTW. What I have shared so far is my Tier 2 freshwater fishing spots. I have some Tier 1 freshwater fishing spots that are much better but those will remain secret for the foreseeable future.

The local nature reserves and parks in Canberra finally opened after weeks of strict lockdown and I was able to catch my first fish in several weeks. This video report shows a 59cm Carp being caught between spot #2 and #3 as shown on map in the post at top.

Another fishing trip to Molonglo River. Large Murray Cod got away but caught a 60cm Carp. Watch the video report below. This was at spot #1 as shown on map in the post at top.

Actually, I managed to land the same Cod a week later and it was 70cm long! Though it was an accidental catch. Video coming in two weeks.

Another trip to Molonglo River. Managed to catch the large Murray Cod that got away last time and it was a new PB. Watch the video report below. This was at spot #1 as shown on map in the post at top.

Thanks mate. Fishing has been very difficult for the past couple of months due to rain. Cannot go fishing when rain is forecast due to all the electronics that I carry with me. Agree, they look pretty.

Thanks mate. From the nearest road, it takes about 15mins of walk but the gradient is pretty steep at some places.

Yes, most of my freshwater fishing happens early in the morning, shortly after sunrise. On hot sunny summer days, Murray Cod usually stop biting by 8:30am. On cloudy or foggy summer days, the feeding activity may continue till around 9:30am. In winter, you can start even later as sun comes up later.
