Beginner Spinning combo

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

First post so please be patient.

After an unsuccessful start with beach fishing, I have decided to move to spinning on soft plastic, something similar to what the guy below does, I am based in Melbourne. Honestly I would be happy even with a couple of squids 🙂

What combo and soft plastic would you recommend to start with? Targeting whatever I can catch in the 1-3 kg range, mainly off the piers. There are good sales at the moment.

I was thinking at those two but the review on the rod is not great:

Hi Sampey

Around Melbourne, land based, you can get silver trevally, mullet, Aussie salmon, bream, flathead, whiting, and pinkies.

A Shimano Sienna combo would be good. If you wanted, you could switch the rod to something such as an Ugly Stik (best for bait fishing) or an Abu Garcia Veritas (lure fishing).

Good luck,

Cheers Hamish

(ps thanks for that video. Coincidentally I am down here right now and that fellas YouTube channel gave me some good spots to try )
