Japanese Braid - Advise Needed

Recommended Posts

So i have a few questions that I need answering for someone more experienced then myself.  What braid is considered better.  Gosen W Hard type 8 ply Casting Braid or Yamatoyo Famell PE Jigging
Braid.  Both are in 12lb

I own both but wanted to know what the more superior braid is out the two and why.

Regards

Siglon PEX8 i run on lots of my spin reels and a couple of baitcasters. It is a very good trustable line that knots super well.

I have 1 reel with Gosen 15lb.....its a decent line but lags behind in knots cinching as well as the PEX8.

I have not touched the Famell.....it is a rip off.

Hard to go past Siglon PEX8 and Tasline All White.

Siglon PEX8 can be found at times for as little as $28 for 300m ...  I bought 1500m of it at that rate early this year.

Alot of guys use siglon and love it, gosen is pretty good and i have tried it myself but switch back to ygk pentagram as thats probably one of the best if not the best light line ive ever used. Really enjoy Saltiga 12 although much more expensive. In regards to Tasline, yes its australian made, yes lots of people use it, but what do i think - overrated crap line. Never gone a sessions without getting windknots using it, randomly snaps at times, last session that was final straw for me was 3 casts, 3 wind knots. Replaced it was x12 saltiga and never had an issue. If you dont mind spending a bit more check out ygk pentagram, probably the best line for light stuff ive used. Keen to try lighter varivas lines though, ive put pe4 varivas avani on my new 2015 saltiga and its an amazing braid.

Another vote for YGK Penta upgrade I have it on a few reels, also Sufix 832 is very solid for baitcasters although the YGK is much finer.

I like Shimano Ocea but its too expensive.

I also run Varivas Avani on a Stradic 5000 (20lb) and although its super fine being white I basically cannot see it a lot of the time.

I am giving the new Venom braid (PE2) a trial on a Twin Power 5000 as well, seems good so far Hoping its fairly abrasion resistant.
