Hey guys, want to get an edge rod specefically the delta but my main concern is how it holds up. Has anyone owned an edge rod and had it snap on them or know anyone whos had an edge rod and had it snap on them. Never tried them so a bit skeptical on that side of things. Any advice is appreciated. Planning to order today so do need to make a decision as theirs 1 in stock and its the only rod ive found that does what i want to do and would suit the reel im putting on it.

I have two but fortunately for me neither have broken.

One is a Delta blanked custom made by ACM in Mackay in a 7 foot 10-17lb baitcaster.   Its bloody awesome, I would be confident catching most anything on it that the reel capacity could handle.  I would happily have another one of his rods on a Northfork blank.

Also got a First Strike MBR704 spin (8-14lb).  It hasnt caught anything decent to say whether it can handle what is claimed of it.  I was told the 704 can easily handle impoundment barra but I havent managed that on it yet.

First Strike is a significantly lighter rod than the Delta but it feels more robust as a result but the 704 is a lot more responsive and you could definitely cast all day with it and never complain its so light (got a Sustain 5000 on it).   I run a Curado 200 on the Delta.

Ohh and I am sure you have done your research but Edge are really underrated for power by at least one level.  That 704 is probably equivalent to a 10-17 or even 10-20lb but has the sensitivity to work really light jigs and lures.  Very fast action though so when I swap between rods I have to reduce the amount of action I put on.

I know of only two rods that have broken buy guys I know...1 was high sticked, the other is not clear why it broke....may have been stood on or something.

So not a lot different to most other graphite rods as far as durability goes.

Hard to say what to compare it to.  They are fast actions and my Delta is in a BC and the FS is in spin.  I would say Delta is softer than the FS side by side.

What are you going to use it for?

I have a 2024 Twinpower 5000.  Its so smooth, I havent tried it side by side against a Stella to see just what difference you can feel.

I am a Shimano guy - always have been, don’t quite understand the models of the Daiwa’s and don’t feel the need to learn 😀

haha, well ive decided to get the 24 Certate 3000 over the stella lol, rod arrived no faults yet, blank feels bit thicker comapred to other rods felt like it could use a 4-8lb model and itd be fine but overall suoer happy with it.

One issue was the rod arrived with insert of guide not secure, fell out when opening the package. Emailed anglers warehouse see what they say. Quite bummbed out by it though

Yeah id have gotten away using a 4-8lb edge rod i reckon. They gave me the option to either, they send the courier back and theyll give me a full refund, or they trasnfer me $40 and i can get a professionaly done brand new guide. I chose to get the $40 and out a brand new guide. I temporarily fixed the tip with a touch of super glue so will be good for sunday then after that ill get it professionally fixed
