School was out early & the boys wanted to go rock fishing.

Weather was overcast; some rain. Calm seas.

I t didn't take long. First up a bonito, then another one. The youngest guy yelled out help. So, I grabbed him. Took the rod off him. I thought it was a shark. 79cm kingie. Put up a good fight. 

After things settled down, we caught two nice snapper, 55 & 58 cms. More bonito (released ) Three flathead were next amongst some under size.

After two & half hours we headed home, very happy.

The snapper like those squidtrex lures.

That's a good session off the rocks in anyone's language. Such a diverse range of fish.

How do you work the Squidtrex ?

 When I first used the Squidtrex, I just threw it out there. Since then, I tried the usual moves you do with lures & it didn't work. So, I just throw it out there & wait. I have only caught snapper on them nothing else. I have three in different colours & sizes. I have used them at the beach, caught nothing. They only seem to work on the rocks.

The good thing about Pelican Pt. People don't seem to go there. We had the place to ourselves. Further up the road is Norah Head rocks. People seem to like it better. Don't know why. It is a long walk to the rock ledges.
