queensland Baroon pocket report

Today Tim headed down from brissie on the train, and we took the yaks up to baroon for a crack at a few bass. The weather was against us with a fair bit of wind and rain. but we were dertermand to catch some fish so we pushed on through the bad weather. We couldnt find the usual schooling bass in the deep (none even showing on the sounder) so we decided to hit the edges throwing some jackals at the weed beds. We ended up getting a dozen or so each all between 25-35cm, nothing big. a couple of the fish had us calling them for much bigger fish, they really pulled and hit hard. I got the majority of my fish on a pink jackal mask vib and tim got the majority of his on a jackal TN60. I through a popper around for a while producing a couple of spangled perch and one great surface take from a bass :woohoo: that failed to hookup:( . all in all it was a good days fishing, spent with a great guy.

yeh they do fight hard, especially when they start hitting 50cm+ :)

Well done Lee and Tim there are plenty of fish at Baroon but seems to be a lack of food for them. It's hard to find the bigger fish, I have only nailed one bass over 50 out of hundreds caught at that dam, but i keep trying.

Dams been at 100% for a month or so Brian, so any rain in Maleny over about 25mm shuts it for a day or so. I am going up Tuesday, hope to get a few.

Nice one guys. I totally agree as well. Pound for pound i reckon baroon bass fight the best.

technically the dam was closed yesterday, the water was just lapping the sign, we saw the ranger out on the water and he said nothing so all was good

Thanks stu new for of sun protection after getting nailed by it on sunday. Tho yesterday it was more rain and wind protection.

Yeh I havnt had the best of luck with weather and conditions as of late, but it all evens itself out in the long run
