Hi Guys/Girls

Shark fishing

When using a steel trace and a high breaking strain mono in between trace and my main line.What knot is best for tying the high bs mono to a swivel.

What size mono would you recommend 100-130lb ?.

locked blood or uni, 5-6 turns. fishn for small sharks 100 is fine

Hey Pom, when Mack says small sharks 100 is ok he means skarks about the size of a small car.:woohoo: His "small" shark and my "small" shark are different sizes.

20lb with 60lb wire is OK for the small river sharks (sometimes lighter but you run the risk of bust off).

I use 50lb with 120lb wire in the bay.

Terry goes 100lb with 200lb wire but he catches whales.

Locked blood is all I use in braid or mono a few more twists in braid never fails so I'm with you Mack if using a paternoster in braid give it on more twist and double loop your hook

I've always used a uni knot and found it pretty reliable.

he just means trace mono brian, not mainline mono if thats what your on about? 100 is pretty standard for trace

Thanks guys,now got some 100lb mono,maybe need to up my mainline size.I have shimano 8000 & 6000 series baitrunner reels with 20 & 25 lb braid.

Definitely use a uni knot. Haven’t had one bust yet. Or, you could Use an improved Albright and tie your mono, directly to the wire. However, this is only acceptable for lighter gear.

Yea, that wire is not required for catching fish of that size. Your standard plastic coated 200lb will do the trick.
