gidday guys just got back from a pretty good day checking out the barra park at Bli Bli.

the plan was to use lures all day NO BAIT :P and it worked :D

the catch: chucked lures in barra creek with no succes for a little while decided to get my bream stick and go to teh mixed pond walked around and looked into the water and saw about 10 bream that would easily go 40+cm had a few casts BAM im on, short while later i land my PB bream of 38cm approx to tip on jackall chubby deep. took a photo on dads phone back in the water he goes.

after that decided it was barra time again chucked around some lures i caught 2 lost about 10 dad cuaght 7 lost about 20 then i went for one last fish in mixed pond with my bream gear and chubby. walked teh far side and back of teh pond for 1 nice 40ish cm flathead no photos this tim e as dad had took his phone which would end up making me very sad :(

kept walking spooked a flathead that would have easily gone 85+cm bloody huge thing had a cast along the bank...wobble wobble bang "oh i missed him" paused the chubby twitch twitch BAM :woohoo: im on at first i didnt know what it was then to my suprise a 75-80cm flathead leaps clear out of the water 4 TIMES :woohoo: :woohoo: after a screaming run that took about 40m of line i landed him measured him against my rod marked the rod with the sticker form my hat and continued fishing caught one small barra on the way back on my new favourite chubby jackall.

borrowed a tape measure measured the spot on my rod he went 75cm give or take a few.

so my day:

3 barra all about 40ish

2 flathead, 40ish 75ish

1 bream 38cm

pretty good day good to get out fishing even if its in a pond :P

PS: i will try and find teh cable for dads phone so i can get the pics of thsi bream

i guess the hooks r too small/thin and leader's not heavy enough

Kevin you don't understand, the Barra Park requires the complete opposite gear you would normally see people using for Barra. No more then 20lb leader or 20lb main and that's at a max. The norm is basically the same ear you use on Bream, I've caught plenty on 2lb Crystal and it's good fun.

me and dad were saying the exact same thing troy, i had taken my bream gear and a BC spooled with 22lb and didnt even touch the BC.

My bream gear had 6lb crystal fireline with 6lb yamatoyo leader.

Can i suggest if your are intending on going there either use barbless hooks or crush the barbs down, all teh barra we caught had their mouths ripped and torn from beign caught so many times.
