Hi Guys

Took the son-in-law and grandaughter out of Vic Point yesterday for a few hrs mainly to spend a few hrs playing with the new Raymarine DS500x.

Found a few nice spots off the tip of Maclay. Big drop-off from 8' to 30' with a heap of fish showing on the edge.

Hooked 5 small sharks, 2 small squire and a grassy. All on the fresh prawns.

That was it. Couldnt get a bight on SP's, fresh prawns, squid or pillies.

We moved around a fair bit, found a lot of schools of fish but couldnt get a bight.

Too much fresh???

We tried from 5:30am to 11:00am

At least you would have had some fun with the little sharks. Amazing they were taking frozwen but not fresh haha. Classic!

How much does all the fresh effect the bay?

Mate, I heard the fish school has got hold of the EPA's plan and they've been teaching them to head to the protection zones early to get a spot before the last minute rush in a few weeks ;)

On a less serious note, I often get a good show on the sounder in that area but not an equivalent amount of satisfaction. Were you fishing right on the bottom or up a bit ?

Hi

We tried various depths and rigs.

The fish showed from 20' to 28' in 30' of water.

We could cast into a depth of 8' and have it drift down the drop off to 30'.

I'll give it another go there in a week or 2 to see if it is just me or maybe a Vic Point/fresh water thing.

The kids had fun, the sharks fought hard on light gear and it didnt rain. What more could you ask for apart from a couple of keepers.

Cheers
