hey guys havnt been on for a few days been helping my mate in his new house, had to build a fence and concrete some stuff but im back now :)

ok um well i currently use a shakespeare synergy 2500 49 dollar job for my light SP and HB fishing matched to a 1-2kg stick, im in the market for a new reel probably 2000 or under size for light esturay fishing.

importants: my budget is probably 350 might be able to go a bit higher.

the reels ive looked at so far have been,

Daiwa Sol

Daiwa Advantage

Daiwa Tierra

Daiwa Luvias

Shimano Twimpower

does anyone know prices for these and have any comments on any of them??

oh look at this baby love to have one but they look expensive http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/index.cfm?section=OurProducts⊂=Tournament&product=Emeraldas

thanks guys any help with pricings or comments would be greatly appreciated

um well light would be good. ill be using it for casting so light is good but i could deal with a reel up to 260grams i spose obviously lighter is better but hey.

ill be using it for bream mainly but also flatties and other esturay such fish as well as small squire in the yak

do you know of any good reels that you dont hear of much kev? if any of them look like the emareldas (SP) that would be cool

a sol will do the job and if u buy it off ebay u can save some money for good braid. don't listen to ppl talking about fireline. real braid can sometimes double the distance u can achieve with fireline. so no matter what reel u end up buying, save for some good braid. i think a lot of ppl can tell u how good real braid is.

and get a responsive rod is more important than getting an exotic reel. most reels over 200aud will cast ok and operate smooth but a GL3 won't give u as much sensitivity as GLX. i actually regret spending 400 on a reel and get a loomis forcelite. i should have invest my money into a megabass orichi instead and get a OK reel.

Mate I can recommend the Shamino Technium series, 2500 is what I have and it's fantastic. It's about $200 and comes with 2 spools. It has an Excellent drag with stopping power as well as a great finesse feel. There is a review on the home page that is worth reading.

The 2 spools allows me to use 8lb salt and 3lb crystal for the fresh.

Excellent reel, good value for money with great versatility.

I when down this road not so long ago and ended up with a sol 2000 on 1 of my 2-6lb bream rods,, it's been great.. I have a 2000 Tierra as well on another 2-6 rod and it good but if you have the extra $$$ go the sol.. The good thing about the sol and tierra 2000's is the spools are interchangable..

Hope this helps

Talk about getting spooled:ohmy: :pinch: and having a loose drag:blink: Do these reels have a star drag :side:

You'll see them in the next madi gras - they'll be the one's singing "The Reel Thing":silly:

yeah im thinking i might just pay the extra dollars to get a warranty. since this will be the most money ive ever spent on anything exept golf clubs (they are expensive buggers) i will want a warranty since im a bit clumsy.

ok well ive had a look and i have narrowed it down to either a DAIWA LUVIAS 1003 or 2000 or DAIWA SOL 2000. from what ive heard both good reels and they look shmik. if only more reel manufacturers made reels that look like the emaraldas that holographic paint looks awesome
