excited to try and catch some decient sized squire after reading some bait tips, me and a mate decided to go down to good ol bretts wharf to try our luck

at the start things were really bad. i lost about 35meters of braid on one of my reels due to tangles and i missed most of my hits. after that we started to get heaps and heaps of live herring, few prawns and another 2 live baits but im not sure wot they were. hoping for better luck we put some of them on. sure enough in the space of about an hour and a half we managed to hook about 5 catfish and my frend pulled in a nice shovel nose around the 70cm mark..

things started to go quiet and so did the livies.. running out of bait i decided to cast net at a different spot. just before i left my rod went off and i managed to get a nice 30cm bream

went to the new spot for live baits. didnt get anything except another bream around 26cm.

went back to the wharf and got a massive herring in the net

put that on and chilled out.. after a while my line got hit and i thought just a baby catty..... i was wrong... the whole rod was just bending like crazy. i ran over to it and in a few seconds half of my left over line had already been taken. eager to find out what it was i picked it up and started reeling it in when all of the sudden it snapped.

what do you think it was?

after that we got 1 stingray and decided to leave on a high :cheer:

Possibly a bull shark. In fact quite likely.

Sounds like a fun session. I miss the old days chilling at Bretts Wharf

Guys when you say youre fishing at bretts wharf is it off the bank or in the boat , if in the boat what are the restriuctions about fishing near wharves?

Usually, it is just off the Brett's Wharf pontoon. It says "No Fishing", but nobody really cares if you don't leave a big mess.

the pontoon next to the citycat wharf.. yea lol every1 ignores the sign.. its an alright spot to. caught a 82cm shovelnose there today
