so here are a few pics of some fish that have been landed ova the last month.

Ian.

this flattie was caught under the chevron island bridge on monday nite!

and we got another a bit smaller under the bundall bridge! pic to follow!

they were both caught on std flathead settups using sinkers to match the current and whole squid or squid stripps for bait on a 1.0 mustard [img size=480]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/100_3314__Custom_.jpg

Not a bully. They are about twice that big when still in the mums tummy. Not sure what species to be honest. At that size its tough to tell anyway whaler species apart.

Simon?

James?

Terry?

Want to help me out with this one?

thanks for the replys fellas!

not sure if it was a thready or not but it was about 10-15cm long and caught on a prawn!

any chance the shark im holding is a black tip?

cheers Ian.

I would not worry about it to much. There are so many whaler species and at that size it would be tough to tell. Even some marine bioligists need to examine the teeth to be sure.

They could be baby Duskies as they are far more pointier and smaller than Bullies. But in saying that, they could be any one of of about 20 species.

  • 2 weeks later...

hello long time no post!

ive been on hollidays in burleigh heads for the past week, i did manage to get out for a fish while i was there, the first trip was just a quick flick off the main beach in a small gutter i spotted,

i really just wanted to try out my new baitcaster i purchased from plasticman at tacklworld! (cheers mate;))

well after a few birds nests and no hitts on sp's i realised i was trying to get too much out of my gear and headed home (village at burleigh very nice!).

the second trip was to tallebugera creek (spelling sorry),

i tried sp's and bait but they were only bitting on the sp's off the rocks and in the clear shallows under the brige!

i managed a pretty little moses off the rocks and a flattie next to the brige! i was quite pleased with myself being my second and third fish on sp's!

first pic is the flattie and my new cheapy baitcaster spooled with 8lb fireline on my ian miller 3-6

cheers Ian. [img size=480]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/100_3363__Custom_.jpg

thanks Angus!

i was getting hitts all day on the gulp worms from whiting they ware chasing it in groups of 10-15 taking turns at bitting it!

i only had 2 sise jig heads and they were both too large to hook a vartin!

we have also fished the sand pumping jetty since being back and it produced a few good bream (awsome white colour), whiting, dart, and a tarwine! sorry no pics of them!:(

one tip though! we fished very close to the shore on the jetty and got whiting and bream but further out at the tip there were only dart!

last pic is fisherdan off ephrin island with his first fish on his

new rod! (i guess that makes it a bream rod?)

cheers Ian [img size=480]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/100_3334__Custom_.jpg
