Snapper

Recommended Posts

Had a quick flick today before the weather turned bad.

Was out nice and early, rewarded with a healthy Snapper about the 60cm mark. Pulled like no other Snapper I have caught, big long runs and no head shakes.

Christened my S4 with a smaller Snapper and a Grinner, plenty of boats out so I went and chased some birds that were working. The birds were feeding over about a 200m area. Schools of small Chopper Tailor and Dart feeding on bait. Wind got up about 7 so I headed in.

The Snapper fell to a 5" Pearl Watermelon Power Bait [img size=500]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Snap_29_Jan_08_AFO.jpg

The Loomis and Sol is pretty unbeatable, I manage to stop most of them. Some fish just head straight for the reef and its light out.

It has been finding jig heads that will stand up, settled on Nitro but even then the Snaps crunch them [img size=500]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/fishing_005_AFO.jpg

I've found that TT have got the best hooks, but i've only tried Nitro in the Bream series so I dunno what the better ones are like:S

That's an impressive fish. Any hints on where you caught it?:)

I rate those Nitros for sharpness but I've seen them straighten too many times to trust them to handle bigger fish, even big bream. I think the squidgy ones are stronger from what I've found but they aren't as sharp.

BTW nice Snapper, I'd love to give them a go on plastics.

That's about what my hook looked like after the fight at the beacons. was running 8pd braid and it was a TT jighead.
