Solo river session Sunday

Had a trip outside with a mate dashed by the poor weather on Sunday.

Instead headed out by myself to the mouth of Boggy Creek for the run in tide on Sunday morning with hopes of my first threadie. Launched at 4:30 and came back around luchtime.

Had a couple of rods out with bait while I tossed a few different HB's and SP's at the Pilons. Had a few hits and follows on 3" Lime Tigers but didn't get the deed done in the end.

Had a few blistering runs on a broomstick rod I'd had rigged and ready for the outside stuff. Failed to hook up though. Tried a few different ways to combat the "broomstickness" of that rod by adjusting the drag from zero to firm but it didn't help. Cursed myself for not changing rods before I left as it was no doubt the cause of 3 decent fish being lost.

Caught a few stingrays, catties (one decent one about 60cm) and shovellies and eventually the squire came on the chew. First one I thought "Gee this cattie's giving a good account of himself". Then up pops a squire about 35cm. Let him go. Then a couple more were boated - 38 & 40. Kept them for dinner. The 40cm had a SP in his gut.

Was lucky enough to pull in a TN70 with the anchor when I pulled it in to go home.

Good day with the best company of all:P

pinkey, It was the front half of what looked like a 5" Lime Tiger Gulp.

Bommie, It was a tractor. Used it to tow me home. Have asked kriso if he could sell it for me:P

Feral, I thought of turning it into match sticks at one point

Plastic Man, A bit shorter than my last ;) haha

Rocket/Malcolm, No pics. Couldn't be bothered wiping the hands off etc ;) Would have for something a little more spectacular though:P

Cowfish, Only one keeper (as far as lures go). I was happy with that:)

At one point everytime I went to retie something on my luring rod, the others went off. It was crazy.

After having a look at some of the other reports from the weekend, it looks like the river squire have come on the chew a bit.

I was also surprised how little traffic there was on the river considering the weather:huh: Mind you the ramp was a bit busy coming back. :pinch:
