Harrys - NW Mud - Mth Bris River 30/01/08

Slipped out with faulked for an early run to Harrys.

After much moving about to land on a reef patch, we sort of got one. Its like finding a 50cent piece in a swimming pool....

Anyways not a great deal to report. Harrys produced two undersize pink bream lol and faulked got this gummy below. Two small squire @ NW Mud. A few catfish and a good shark run at the mouth of the river.

The tides were very small, so I guess this is why the fishing was crap. Have to say though there has been a mountain of trawlers out in the bay of late and that has to be putting pressure on the fishing....

I think Harrys is becoming a little redundant. It gets smashed by heaps of fishers and the "reefs" are really broken down with not much structure left.

Never had any real good catching sessions out there. Only one was about 80 juv squire with 3 just keepers in it. That was fun but it really was not fishing, I can do that kind of fishing in a river and cost half the price.

Have to come up with better fishing spot I think.

Next time lads, 3 days before and up to the full moon. Like you said though, Harrys cops a smashing, thats the reason I fish elsewhere.

If you boys are heading to the Cape, any chance of a tag along? Im keen as to give the Cape's close reefs a run.

My boat is around the 5m mark si it needs to be a decent day. I have only ever tried to fish there once. We left Scarb at 2am and half way up the Pearl turned back as Seabreeze got it wrong.

Thanks for the report.

Faulked looks like he's posing in front of a water colour painting in this pic. Are you sure you really went out to sea and not down to the photographers ?:P

Hope you got changed before the interview:laugh:

Absolutely mate anyone can tag along. May even do an afternoon to Curtain or a little further north, set the rigs and sleep the evening, then head around the corner to the three reefs at cape moreton first light. That way if the bar looks a little ordinary we manage a bit of a fish.

Open to suggestions.

That gummy looks the same as the shark I got during the BRC.. (was so small no worth weighing in) I looked it up and found it it was called a blind shark... Still it was my first Brisbane River Shark...

Actually it is called a Cat Shark. Pretty common and put up a reasonable fight. Fun on light gear at least.

Pity about the trip, better luck next time:)
