Sharking Gold Coast

Death Ray

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure theres many in the logan river after what happened lastnight, the jumpinpin is part of the gold coast (so i think) and the logan river isnt that far from the pin. You could also try pimpama river, a couple mates said they couldnt stop the submarines on their gear.

Cheers

are you boys really flooding the water with burley?

A good oil slick of burley will get them from miles around

That's not so good in the Logan or the Albert mate. The river is very norrow and the water runs fast. You'll take the sharks away from your bait with too much burley.

I saw 3 sharks caught last weekend but I was only in the fresh part of the albert and the prawn beds in the Logan. Heaps of prawns so while your sharking don't forget to throw out a jew line either. I might give it a go seeing I'm not going to Baroon.

i have caught a couple of monster bullies up to 3m within a couple of hundred metres of the seaway mouth, some truly giant shovelnose (i know they're not 'real' sharks) and a "small" tiger as well according to my mate - only about 12ft  . there's heaps out there and you don't need a massive boat to get after them just a clam night. live bait is the go, it all works even the humble grinner, slimys seem best, jigs cost about $2 at kmart. pimpama river is the go inside - live mullet, bream or big herring the go. if worst comes to worst, you certainly will find a stinkin pike eel in there somewhere.

did the crabs pull your baits apart once crabbed no hope

were they fresh or frozen baits ive found the shark dont like frozen

did you insulate your metal fixings in your rigs tape it all up

were the baits just sitting dead on the bottom or floating around a little with a bit of life to them

livies rock if you can get them most fish live seem to get eaten

keep bait size under 12 inches to get more shark over 12 inches to get real large shark

rays work well for the big boys

dead eel works well when theres lots of crab they dont seem to pull it apart as quick as say mullet

hope this helps a bit

Hi all,

Thanks for your tips. I couldn't berley up as the canal was too narrow, the tide moves through too fast.

If I get away from work early enough to fish this afternoon, I will try around the Coomera river . Hopefully get some more action this time. Should be able to find a spot that has a bit slower water so I can berley up properly.

Cheers and good luck yourselves

Andrew
