what to do with herring

hi all

I managed to score some free herring from a young chap at shorncliffe the other day and don't really know what to do with them. any suggestions on where to fish, what fish i'm likely to catch and how to rig them up?

you can strip bait them, use whole on gang hooks, grind them up for burley. as for what fish will hit just about anything, depends on the size of the bait.

thanks kriso. they're only about 2" so I might try them whole first and see what happens.
