Any tricks to putting braid on

Spotto

Recommended Posts

For spinning reels - If you have a spare spool, put that on, wind on all the braid, tie the backing to it (mono) then wind it on until the depth on the spool looks good.

Put the main spool back on, tie on the backing from the spare spool, and wind from spare spool to main spool, and it will all be spot on.

yep works a treat, just make sure your spare spool has the same capacity as your main spool. I have been caught out a couple of times:blush:  with the second spool having a smaller capacity

to prevent line digging, u need a very very base on the spool, so i apply very strong force when putting the first half of line( i don't use backing as this is a waste of line and spool capacity when using heavy line). for the later 1/4, if u still apply such strong force, digging will happen at the base as i have noticed. so i use around 1-2lb of force when putting this part of line. then u need to use the rest 1/4 for casting and working lures, some enough tension to keep them stay on spool neatly is enough.
