yes i agree it's only a short drive up there and an even smaller boat ride out.I guess you would catch all types of critters out there from snapper to small billfish. i will let you know when i'm heading up there and maybe we can fish the spot at the same time just a thought.

Mate feel free to report on the trip.

The aim of this site is to pretty much cover everything from the Tweed to Noosa. So we actively encourage more input from north and south.

I was at Coolum on the weekend and there were loads of boats out on the closer reefs of Point Arkwright.

It looked pretty awesome actually and easilt accessible for a yak or smaller boat.

There was a lot of brown foam making the water appear pretty foul though. I imagine this was from all the fresh coming out of the river.

hello, i know this site is mainly fishing around brissy, but has anyone fished around and out from pt cartwright at moolabah? heading up there soon. cheers

I have done a lot of skin diving around this area years ago. There is a small bommie at the southern side of the point (you can see it from the beach) that was always lousy with fish (mainly smaller sweetlip approx 1 to 2 kg). The whole area is rocky reef with some sand spots.

On a more sober note, the recent rains may drive the fish futher offshore... While you are up there, a mate of mine at Nossa reckons they are catching heaps in the Noosa River. Hope that is not of those "you should have been here yesterday" stories:S

Good luck
