Whats the actual specs? Chances are there is a use for it. Possibly it intended use is just for stuff a lot more demanding than norm? I tend to try and use the lightest gear i can get way with these days. You loose the odd fish, but its far more enjoyable fishing.

I like the bait jigging idea though. As was stated by shortie, it doesnt matter if it bends or not in that scenario.

What you’ll need

- Your rod

- Dowel or other bit of wood. Coathanger will do.

- Gaffer tape

- A pillow or cushion

- Old clothes, gloves and a hat for the scarecrow (maybe some straw to fill out clothes)

- Glue

- 2 milk container lids (for eyes)

- Top of glue bottle or sauce bottle (for nose)

- End of poster container or pipe cleaners (for mouth)

- A bucket filled with sand

What you do

1. Remove reels and runners and tie rod to the dowel (or coathanger) by criss-crossing tape around and join, making a cross. Make sure the broom head faces up.

2. Fix a pillow or cushion to broom by wrapping tape around it quite tightly.

3. Dress the resulting object in old clothes, gloves and a hat leaving enough stick or dowel at the bottom to stick into a bucket full sand (you can stuff straw or old rags into the gloves to fill them out).

4. For eyes, glue the milk container lids onto the broom head. Glue on the top of a glue bottle or sauce bottle for a nose. Cut a mouth from the plastic end of a poster container, or use pipe cleaners and glue on a mouth for your scarecrow.

5. Stick the broomstick into the bucket of sand, and you have a scarecrow for the garden! If you don't want it come around to my place in New Farm. I need a couple.

Now you can leave your crops and go fishing with something more flexible...:silly:
